Please Read Before Interpreting Your Score

This free Gun Milan calculator provides a preliminary Ashtakoot compatibility assessment. Scores may vary across software and traditional scoring tables, including Vashya. Guna Milan alone does not determine marriage compatibility, and a high or low score does not guarantee marital success or failure.

For a personalised assessment of both horoscopes—including Manglik factors, dosha cancellations, planetary strengths and dashas—a detailed consultation with Astrologer Ashish Somani is recommended. Please do not make a marriage decision solely on this result.

What Does the Calculator Compare?

Ashtakoot matching compares eight traditional factors: Varna (1 point), Vashya (2), Tara (3), Yoni (4), Graha Maitri (5), Gana (6), Bhakoot (7) and Nadi (8). Together, they make a maximum of 36 points.

The total is a screening score within this traditional framework. It does not include every factor that an astrologer may examine in both complete horoscopes.

Why Can Two Matching Reports Differ?

Reports can differ because of birth details, chart settings, scoring tables or the treatment of traditional exceptions. Vashya is one area where scoring conventions can vary. If reports disagree, compare the individual Koota scores and ask which rule was used.

Is 18 Out of 36 Enough?

Eighteen points is commonly used as a traditional screening threshold. Crossing it does not guarantee a successful marriage, and a lower score should not be the sole reason to accept or reject a proposal. Both complete charts and the couple’s practical compatibility deserve attention.

What If the Birth Time Is Uncertain?

Use the most reliable recorded time available. If the Moon is near a sign or nakshatra boundary, an uncertain birth time can change parts of the result. Discuss that uncertainty in a personal consultation rather than treating the automated score as exact.

Understand Both Kundlis Beyond the Score

Already have a matching report or a concern about Nadi, Bhakoot or Mangal Dosha? A personal consultation can review the original scores, explain any applicable traditional exceptions and put the wider horoscope assessment in context.
